Africa is now the world’s largest free trade area

The historic African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) is a flagship project of the African Union’s agenda. An ambitious treaty, the AfCFTA establishes a unified continental market including the free movement of people, goods, and services.

In many ways, this treaty will transform the continent from a fractured, commodity-dependent group of economies into a vibrant, integrated market of over 1.2 billion people with a combined gross domestic product (GDP) of $34 trillion.
