According to millennial beauty-entrepreneur and first-generation Nigerian American, Karen Lyere, most Nigerian parents are determined for their children to grow up and become doctors, nurses, lawyers, or engineers, but like many other millennials, Lyere wanted more for herself and could not be limited.

She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in nursing, earned her Master’s Degree in nursing, then as she continued her career in healthcare she decided to make a lane of her own by building a beauty brand to fill the gap in representation that has existed for diverse skin types with origins closely tracing back to the African diaspora.
