Nikole Hannah-Jones shows us the value of Black excellence

Blackness has been under attack since whiteness has existed, however through evolution, community, and illuminating excellence, Blackness continues to resist and persist; there has been an increasing momentum of encouragement in spite of continued efforts of oppression — today, Nikole Hannah-Jones leads this equitable charge.

Journalist, educator, and MacArthur Fellowship grant recipient, Nikole Hannah-Jones was recommended for academic tenure as a professor at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. Her case before the Board of Trustees was delayed for months prior to their vote, at which point she was denied tenure.
